Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) announced a charity football match between two top clubs of Nepal – national champion Manang Marsyandi Club (MMC) and runner-up Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) to be played for the Journalists’ Welfare Fund established by Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) to support the families of the journalists who lost their lives or displaced due to the conflict in the country.

The match to be held on July 22 at the Dasrath Stadium. NSJF will provide both the teams preparation money and match fees to each players. The match fee for the winning team’s players will be double of that of losing team’s players.
Speaking on the occasion, NSJF general secretary and FNJ treasurer Hemanta Kafle said, “Twenty-five percent of the raised money will go to the Journalists’ Welfare Fund of FNJ. Both the clubs will also get an equal share for their support and participation.”
“In order to make the match competitive, we are paying the winner twice more than the looser,†said Ajay Phuyal, spokesperson at NSJF.
National team defender and MMC player Sagar Thapa said, “Although it is a friendly match, the competition factor will always motivate us when it comes to playing against NTSC.â€
NTSC president Lalit Krishna Shrestha said, “We are extremely happy to be a part of this generous effort. This is the best way to play a social role for my club and players.â€
Reiterating Shrestha, Chhimi Urken Gurung, president of MMC said, “This is a great cause and if my club for that matter football can play a role that would really make us proud and feel happier.â€
The event is being held in co-operation of FNJ with technical support from All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
